Communities and Corporations Team Up On Health Epidemics

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (June 7, 2017) – Corporate roles in solving community health epidemics including childhood obesity and diabetes will be the focus of a roundtable lead by Innovation Pavilion and Johnson & Johnson’s Innovation Team today at 2pm MST. The discussion will include an overview of how external ecosystems can collaborate with J&J in improving corporate innovation partnerships.

“We have access to the best IoT technologies that can help monitor individuals and provide ongoing support for healthy decisions and provide an integrated connected patient experience,” said Mark Pomeroy, Vice President R&D at Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Solutions. “It is our role as the corporate leaders to utilize these tools to analyze and provide solutions to drive better outcomes for these significant healthcare issues facing our communities.”

The panel will also focus on how public and private partnerships can come together to create solutions for the old and new issues facing communities.  “Over the past several years we’ve been working with organizations like Johnson & Johnson, Aetna, MapMyFitness/Under Armour, the Town of Parker Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Olathe Parks and Recreation Department to develop an IoT enabled app that encourages children to get out and play,” reported Steve Pearse, IP’s Chairman of the Board. “The Playpal app has seen extreme success and shows what can be achieved when players from the private and public sectors come together.”

Panelists include Mark Pomeroy, VP R&D at Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Solutions, Ibraheem Badejo,

Sr. Director, New Ventures at Johnson & Johnson Innovation Center, Steve Pearse Chairman of Innovation Pavilion, Vic Ahmed Founder and CEO of Innovation Pavilion and representatives from United Way, Centura Health, Playpal, Prime Health and Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation.
