Parker, CO

Parker is a small town with a big heart. As our first campus replicated outside of our home headquarters, Parker’s Western spirit is matched only by it’s embrace of innovation. New business in Parker has a lot to look forward to, bringing wealth and a bright future to a historic town with a strong community.

The playground is making a comeback. It’s teaming with technology to draw kids away from the couch and reward them for healthy habits.

Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past thirty years. Today, about one third of children and adolescents are overweight or obese. Unfortunately, these children are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease and prediabetes.  They may also face psychological challenges, such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem.

But fighting childhood obesity can be fun, and it is with IoT Parks by our non-profit Playpal. By putting sensors in playgrounds, we can discover when and where kids play the most, all while respecting privacy by keeping data aggregate. We’ve already started at playgrounds in Parker, Colo. and Olathe, Kan., where we are learning how to encourage kids to get out and play.

Even more, we’re working on ways for kids can track their activity and get rewards for passing milestones. Imagine kids going to playgrounds and logging their play, so they can receive gifts from sponsor companies. When health becomes a game, kids will become champions of fitness.
